I designed this reliquaryaround my Aunt's silver thimble. She was a seamstress in Hollywood and had a love for gardening. The box contains the sterling silver thimble. Angel wings symboliz her passage from this earth and form a dragonfly shape above a doorway with the outline of dress form. A flower, garnet, stamped initial, and a garter belt shape lies at the bottom of the piece (she was actively working in the 30s and 40s). Button-like pieces adorn the chain and a tag is stamped with her name.

A reliquary (also referred to as a shrine or by the French term châsse) is a container for relics. In the religious context it might contain the remains of saints, such as bones, pieces of clothing, or some object associated with saints or other religious figures.

This piece can be worn around the neck, hung on the wall, or sit on a shelf.

If you have a special object you want incorporated into a reliquary please give me a call.
